Kichijoji is a small Buddhist temple in the mountains of Kawaba founded in 1339. From spring to autumn, over 100 varieties of flowers bloom in the Kichijoji Hyakka garden. Varieties found at the temple include lotuses, irises, Japanese primrose, and monkshood.
